Al Madratus Saifiya tul Burhaniyah organized a grand literary segment in the annual convocation on the 17^th of September 2016. The theme of this event titled “Hamd o Sana o Zikr Jilsat” was the zikr of Awliyaullah A.S and the acknowledgement of the contributions of our Hudaat Kiraam AS towards Urdu literature. Other aims of this event were to promote Urdu language among the students and to showcase the beauty of the kalaam of famous Urdu poets of the Subcontinent.

In this jilsat, the young and upcoming poets of grade 8 and 9 recited their own kalaam as well as that of venerated Urdu poets of the Subcontinent. Urdu verse from the tome of Dawat literature was also recited throughout the program. The verse of Allama Iqbal, Mir Anees and other stalwarts featured prominently in this jilsat.

Syedna Aali Qadr Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS’s Urdu nazm penned for the Aligarh Muslim University Convocation formed the heart of this jilsat. Verse of various genres, such as Hamd, Naat, Manqabat, Mad’h and Rasaa as well as poetry on topics such as knowledge and patriotism was woven around this nazm. The soul of this program was the kalaam in the elegy of Sayyedush Shohodaa Imam Husain A.S, which evoked strong expressions of Nauh wal Aweel from the audience.
